it says so

Another week or two has passed, which means another week or two's worth of blogging material is postable. It only makes sense, right?
However the first part of the blog will not be material written by me, in fact im going to do the lazy thing and re-direct you guys to Penny-Arcade. enjoy!

Anyway, this week I spent most of my time doing non-Gameplay related things, so many different things in fact that I need to list them!
  • Removed all Debuging Code as well as General Optimization work to see if the Game runs at a Perfect 60fps on the 360 (with no GC calls to periodically ruin the framerate).  Success, 125fps.
  • Game doesnt start until everyone has loaded their content. If you finish loading before everyone is finished, you'll have a "Waiting for other Players" Message appear, while being given a romantic viewpoint of the map youll be slaying on.
  • 5 Second countdown for when everyone has finished loading their content and is ready to play.
  • Finished writing the code so Players can join a Game after it has started.
  • Wrote most of the code for the Practice Game Mode, and have it "softly" implemented into the Game.
  • Created a set of  "Dev-Textures", got the idea from viewing the Warsow forum. (I believe a lot of Source Mappers also use textures like this)
  • Started working on one of the Maps for the Practice Game Mode, just blocking stuff out for Gameplay testing and general shithousing.
  • Wrote the "Kill Message" System so that when you face rape someone, the whole world get to know!
  • Wrote a fair junk of the Spectator System
And I think thats about it, which means its picture time!




And thats it for my programming shenanigans. I would love to add some sort of amazingly hilarious story of something thats happend to me this week/two, but Ive mainly been Programming... even Dota2 has had to take a back seat! Can you believe it :[

But ill hopefully take a day or two off soon, spend some time Gaming and doing more Social stuff. Atleast then I can return with a new Blog post that includes a cool story bro >:]

On todays Menu

Ive just finished re-doing the entire Menu Section to Exstatic.

I decided to redo it after I felt my old code was a little dirty and wouldnt be a good "source of knowledge" for when the Project goes Open Source.
For the most part its been a fairly easy transition and im glad to finally see the exact same screen I could see before (only now its secretly cleaner!).

The code itself is a fusion of XNA's NetworkStateSample and my Previous Menu Iteration, and its a fusion im pretty happy about. Its a cool fusion, cold fusion.

Alongside re-vamping the Menu, Ive finally managed to implement a proper Lobby Screen, and it looks like the sex!
Everything so far seems to work properly, which means in just a few days time I can hook up everything from Phsyics, Rendering, Networking, Menus, Animations, etc etc into what I call a "Proper Game Build", instead of seperate Modules.

Cant wait!
